At around age 40 your repetitive stress injuries begin to catch up with you. Bad posture habits, hunching your shoulders forward, prolonged sitting or driving, side or stomach sleeping habits — all of these can eventually lead to changes in the length and functionality of the soft tissues in your neck and back usually right around 40 years old.
Your head might tilt slightly downward and to one side. Your leg length can become uneven. Hips can tilt forwards or backwards. Knees and ankles can angle inwards, or outwards. Up and down your body the small changes over time eventually lead to excessive wear and tear — and pain and restricted movement.
At age 40 many people experience the first signs of chronic pain and limited range of motion. At age 40, your body is beginning the process of actually wearing out, and your pain is your body’s way of telling you that it’s time fight back against father time.
Left untreated, your tight, sore and restricted muscles and tendons will progress until your options are reduced to surgery or giving up the activities you love that cause you pain. Or both.
Many clients come to me and report their neck and shoulder and knee all started to hurt at about the same time. What this means is your body held compensations in all these areas, and all these areas need treatment simultaneously to resolve all your issues.
